In the Beginning

Hotflash Designs began one summer day in 2010 when friends Christina Chandler and Deborah Young were on a getaway to Southern Utah.  We were discussing our love of buttons and vintage fabrics and began talking about starting a business. "What should we call it? "I said.  Christina was fanning her face and stated  "I'm going outside for a minute: I'm having a hot  flash!"  She came back inside and I said, "that's it!  We'll call our business Hotflash Designs!" We jumped on the computer that evening and reserved the name.

We began by putting together button bracelet kits and probably sorted through more than10,000 buttons  before deciding we just couldn't find enough buttons at reasonable prices to continue the kits any more.  Wanting to spend time doing other things,  Christina left the business and Deborah is now the sole partner. I love treasure hunting for vintage buttons, lace, trim, embroidered and crocheted linens, floral tablecloths, vintage fabric, sewing notions and patterns.

In Memorium

Sadly, co-founder of Hotflash Designs Christina Chandler died on March 22, 2021. She was a great inspiration to me during and after our partnership.  Her dedication to her friends and family were enormous and her creativity and wonderful personality and smile will be greatly missed.

A New Direction

Since I was now on my own,  Hotflash Designs was ready for a new focus.  I have been sewing most of my life and always enjoyed vintage fabrics and linens, a reminder of the wonderful quilts my grandmother made.  I now do some quilting, and sew handbags and tote bags, (LOTS of them) stuffed animals, and other projects,  and love to use vintage linens in them.  I treasure hunt for vintage buttons, lace, trim, embroidered and crocheted linens, floral tablecloths, vintage fabric, sewing notions and patterns.
